Things I'm thankful for as a dad

I try hard to be a very thankful person. I realize there are many wonderful things in my life. Now that I’m a dad, I suddenly discovered a whole new batch of reasons to be thankful.

Everett’s earth-warming smile every time I walk into the room

“Do you want to play with Everett for a few hours?”

“Are you ready for me to look after Everett now?”

    Baby rice crackers

Everett knows what a toilet is for. And uses it.

    Teething toys

    Everett’s fascination with the outdoors

I can sleep through almost anything.

Spending an afternoon surrounded by stuffed toys and building blocks (usually Everett is with me, too)

We have family and friends who are eager for “one on one time” with Everett, and are fine with us “accidentally” arriving an hour past the agreed pick up time

Watching my son during bath time

Pregnancy & Newborn hiring me to write about my adventures with my son

    Everett’s love for books

Silence emanating from Everett’s bedroom after 8pm and staying that way until morning

My son was born cute, so I didn’t have to follow through on my threat of “taking him back for a refund”

Summit and Everett love each other.

I have a career where I can see my son throughout the day.

I also have a career where “I need to leave the house for a few hours, and hopefully, he stops crying for you soon.”

“Hush Little Baby” is a sleeper hit in our house.
