I love being able to “read” my baby, even though we’re nearly a year away from any kind of language skills. Her language goes something like this:

    • Red rings around the eyes? She’s tired.

    • Kicking and arching her back in bed? Gassy.

    • Scooting her shoulders back and forth while lying down? Needs to burp.

    • Tries to gnaw on my finger 1,148 times per day? Getting her first tooth.

    • Sticking that bottom lip way out? About to get really ticked off.

    • Cooing in a soft tone? Usually means she’s entertained by something the dogs are doing.

    • Cooing in a loud tone? Usually means she’s entertained by something her brother is doing.

    • Screaming without warning? Needs to get a big belch out, stat.

    • Lifts her little knees high in the air? Needs to poop.

    • Furrows her brow? Needs to poop.

    • Grumbles and grunts? Needs to poop.

    • All smiles? Just woke up and is pleased with the world.

    • Wiggles her little fingers? Wants to touch something.

    • Purrs while she sleeps? Wholly content.

I was never good with languages in school. Never liked learning them. But Chloe language? I totally get it. And of course, I love speaking it.
