    New Year, new house

About six weeks ago we welcomed our Phoebe into our family and have been loving on her ever since. In the meantime, we’ve celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas (and all that goes along with it), and we’re rolling into the New Year with a big MOVE. I forgot how much work goes into moving, but we’re excited to be renovating a farmhouse in our little town. This week instead of drinking champagne and eating black eyed peas, we are knee-deep in boxes, packing tape, and stuff. It’s really unbelievable how much junk one can accumulate over six years.

Our oldest daughter, Matilda, has been helping with the packing. She writes “messages” on all of the boxes and she even helped me sort through her toys. She was so sweet picking out the things that she wanted to pass on to “the other kids.” I thought it would be a great lesson in giving. We filled up an entire bag of her toys and she didn’t bat an eye.

The main challenge has been that I need to tend to the girls most of the day while Sam is packing. Matilda wants to “play” and Phoebe needs a lot of loving and is nursing often. This has made the moving process go very s-l-o-w-l-y. Sam is doing the best that he can to get us meals (read: more takeout than you can shake a stick at) and pack while my ever-discerning eye is watching over. He’s just in heaven letmetellyou. I know that we have to eventually be done, but we’re looking at a week and a half of moving at this point and we haven’t even gotten to our bedrooms! Ha. Really excited for the day we can look back on this and laugh. I’m also starting work back up on monday, so this should be really interesting…

Have you ever made a move with an infant and another busy little one? I’m all ears for tips and tricks. Please send wine.
