    Like father, like son

Everett is a cute, smart and energetic baby, but despite those things, we still have a lot in common. Here are a few things that make my son a lot like me.

Looks: Many people remark on how adorable and handsome Everett is, and I admit that I don’t get the same remarks. But if you look at my baby pictures, you realize that Everett is just the 2012 version of baby Christopher. So, when people go on and on about how handsome Everett is, they’re really complimenting me as well.

Easily Startled: If I get focused on writing, I’ll often leap out of my chair in fright if someone walks in. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve walked into a room and greeted Everett who then spastically flings his arms into the air and gives me a face like he just got kissed by a ghost.

Good with the Ladies: Everett is always surrounded by beautiful women that want to hug and kiss him. I admit I may not get the same level of attention, but I clearly couldn’t have married such an amazing woman if I didn’t have similar powers.

Rely on Emily for our Fashion: We both can’t leave the house until Emily sees what we’re wearing. Everett usually is fine, because she is often the one who changes him. Emily seems to be opposed to changing her 34-year-old husband, though. Discrimination.

Love Animals: We both have the same giant grin when Summit walks past us or when he leans against us for pets. Everett loved staring at the animals during his adventure to the zoo as much as I did, or at least he did when he was awake or not watching people munch on popcorn.

Drooling: I can limit my festival of slobber to my pillow at night. Everett believes drooling is a fantastic day-long activity that is made even better with high quality bubble blowing. Only one of us has to wear a bib all day in order to keep our shirt dry.

Love Eating: We both think it is a great way to spend half the day. We also both rely on Emily to make sure we have that food to eat. Everett’s food is just far more liquidy and milky than my preferred forms of sustenance.

Storytellers: I write my tales down and send them off to publishers, while Everett regales his adventure to anyone who holds him. Lucky for me, more people seem to understand what I’m trying to say, but on the other hand, Everett may have a larger fan base.

Hair: We have about the same hairline and amount of hair on our heads. Sadly, this likely won’t be the case in a year.
