I've had an unusual number of memorable dreams since early in my pregnancy.
I had a dream the other night that my baby is going to be a boy. Of course, in my dream, they had to take the baby out to find out, and put him back in afterwords, so I'm not putting too much stock in this dream. If I had to guess, I would guess boy, but that's just because boys are trouble and my early pregnancy was pretty troublesome.
Interestingly, the last dream was the only one so far that involved a baby that was actually mine. My brother had one (okay, not my brother, but his girlfriend) and a friend of ours had triplets—both highly unlikely scenarios.
But the rest of the dreams start to get even stranger. My close friend died from a strange disease (that she never told me about) and funeral information was posted on her Facebook—and that dream was so real feeling I checked her Facebook page the next morning to make sure it really was just a dream.
There was also a zombie apocalypse (and I didn't watch any zombie movies before bed) and a murder where I had to help hide the body (okay, I'll admit, way too many CSI-type shows that night). Oh, and the one where gas went up to $9.24. Yes, that's per gallon. That one was scarier than the zombies.
I've read that people have several dreams a night, so my theory is that pregnancy affects my sleep (well, thats more than a theory, it does affect sleep) and that I'm reaching that sleep stage where I can actually remember my dreams more often. The dreams are a little less frequent now (I had one every night for about a week early on) but not getting any less strange.
As I said earlier, I don't really put too much stock into dreams, other than perhaps saving the crazy ones as ideas for my fiction writing later on. My father-in-law had a dream, however, that this baby is a boy, and the boy was named one of the two names still on our boy name list—before we had mentioned any of the names we were considering to anyone. Now that makes me wonder…
