Well, I finally had that moment I've been waiting for ever since I saw those two lines on the pregnancy test. That moment when you move from knowing the baby is okay because all those extra hormones are churning your stomach to knowing the baby is okay because you actually feel him churning in your stomach (not that my nausea has completely left like its supposed to or anything).
Which is a pretty accurate way of describing it, a churning. You know that feeling you get when your stomach is growling because you are hungry? That's what a baby flutter feels like, only babies tend to be more active right after you eat. Which is the first time I noticed it, right after eating dinner out at a nice steakhouse for my husband's birthday—Whoa, I am not hungry—that was definitely baby! I know that I had felt that same thing earlier that day, but didn't think too much about it.
I had a regular OB appointment earlier that day, and he asked me if I had felt any movement yet. When I said I felt things that I wasn't sure if they were baby or not, he said they probably were baby—which set me to analyzing every feeling the rest of that day.
Now that I can recognize what baby movement feels like, I've felt him moving around much more—most often after I eat or when I'm lying down. I've even felt a few that felt less like a general flutter and more like a kick or a punch. Sometimes, I can feel the movement start on one side of my stomach and ripple to the other side.
At the same time, on days that are overly busy, I may not feel much all day. Not that the baby isn't moving, his momma is just too distracted to notice since most of the flutters are still rather subtle.
Its rather strange to think about something living and moving inside of me, but I think it is one of the coolest parts of being pregnant (other than actually getting a baby to hold at the end), being able to “hold” the baby for months and glimpse through the movements parts of his personality, like how active he may be.
