    A W̶A̶H̶M̶ warm welcome

I recently took the plunge and officially became a WAHM. (That’s “Work at Home Mom,” for those of you who don’t speak acronym.) I’ve worked at the same company for 9.5 years, so this was a pretty big move for me. Honestly, it’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’m a graphic designer by trade, and also run an Etsy shop doing personalized gifts. So, I’ll be spending my days juggling freelance design projects, piggy banks and my growing boy. It’s sure to be hectic at times, but what job isn’t? I can’t think of any way I’d rather spend my time at this point in my life.

The really funny thing, and the purpose of why I’m writing this post, is the way in which Isaac welcomed me to my new position of full time WAHM…

After a lunch meeting with my former boss, where I resigned my position, Isaac and I went straight to Target to pick up some necessities. He was a little fussy, and I could tell he was getting hungry, so I hopped in the backseat to feed him in the parking lot before we went in.

Halfway through his bottle, I realized he was going to need to be burped anyway, so I took him out of his carseat to do so. Well, the second half of the bottle was just what he needed to get things moving. He proceeded to fill his diaper. Not wanting to deal with lugging him into Target all stinky, I decided to just change him in the car.

Turns out, this was no ordinary poopy diaper. It was of the “all the way up the back” variety. A hot mustard explosion, if you will. So, it required not only a diaper change, but an entire body wipe down and change of clothes. Luckily, the spare outfit in the diaper bag still fit. It was a close call!

Oh, and did I mention that he also spit up all over my scarf during all this?

I found myself literally laughing out loud while all this was happening. It would figure that the instant I quit my job, all hell would break loose on the mommy front, right?

In any case, we survived. I guess I really am getting the hang of this!

Here’s to many more wonderful days spent in my new position of WAHM!

Any WAHMs out there with advice on how to juggle it all?
