7:30 a.m.- Isaac starts to stir. He “talks” to himself for a few minutes until Mom can tell he’s getting frustrated.
7:45 a.m.- Mom stumbles into the nursery and fetches Isaac from his crib. She brings him to her bed. Everyone snuggles for a bit while Mom and Dad wake up.
8:00 a.m.- At the insistence of Isaac, everyone gets up, brushes their teeth and heads downstairs. Cats get fed while Isaac’s morning bottle is being warmed.
8:10 a.m.- Isaac drinks his morning bottle of about 8 oz. like it’s going out of style. Mom checks emails/Facebook/Instagram on her phone. Dad gets dressed and ready for his day.
8:30 a.m.- Isaac plays in his bouncy chair on the kitchen table while Mom and Dad have their own breakfast. There is a lot of toy throwing, but he’s content for the most part.
9:00 a.m.- Dad heads of to work and Isaac and Mom play for a while on the floor with toys. Isaac rolls and rolls. It will be no time until he’s crawling.
10:00 a.m.- Morning nap! Isaac falls asleep quickly and Mom rushes to get a few things done, including pumping and cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast and preparing Isaac’s cereal. This is also when Mom gets dressed for the day.
10:45 a.m.- Isaac wakes. Time for cereal! This week it’s a barley oatmeal blend. After eating 2 tablespoons, Isaac enjoys his second bottle of the day, about 6 oz.
11:15 a.m.- Isaac gets dressed for the day.
11:30 a.m.- More play time. Mom tries to clean house or do laundry, but usually just plays too. If there’s an outing for the day, this is when it usually happens.
1:30 p.m.- Nap time again! Isaac falls asleep pretty quickly and Mom again rushes to get things done while he’s napping. Sometimes this involves jumping on the computer to return some emails from the morning, or answer questions from her shop. This is also when Mom usually makes some lunch for herself. Or, if she’s feeling extra exhausted, she’s even been known to take a nap with Isaac.
2:00 p.m.- He’s up! Time for another 8 oz. bottle.
2:30 p.m.- More play time on the floor.
3:00 p.m.- If it’s nice out, Mom and Isaac go for a walk around the neighborhood. Isaac usually falls asleep and gets another afternoon nap.
4:00 p.m.- More play time. Mom tries to keep getting something accomplished around the house.
6:00 p.m.- Isaac eats his evening cereal. Another 2 tablespoons, and then another 6 oz. bottle. If all goes well, this is about the time daddy gets home.
6:30 p.m.- Bath time. Isaac splashes and looks at himself in the mirror while Mom ooohs and aaahs over the nakie babie. Daddy helps too.
6:50 p.m.- If he’s up for it, Mom reads a book or two to Isaac and rocks him.
7:00 p.m.- Mom stands by Isaac’s crib and sways him to sleep while they listen to the music from his mobile. Isaac falls asleep, and Mom lays him in the crib, then says a prayer for him.
7:15 p.m.- Mom and Dad have dinner.
8:00 p.m.- If she has work to do (or the energy to do it) Mom goes to work in the office. If not, Mom and Dad spend time together talking or watching TV. Mom checks on Isaac at least half a dozen times, despite the video monitor.
10:00 p.m.- Mom pumps.
11:30 pm. Mom and Dad go to bed. Mom gets up 2-3 times a night to check on Isaac.
7:30 a.m.- Isaac starts to stir.
Of course, every day is a little different, but they all look something like this. I’ve been starting to figure out ways to get things accomplished during the day while still being a good mama. When it’s all on paper like this, it’s hard to see why it’s so difficult to get anything accomplished. All I know is the days are flying by, but I’m loving every minute of time with my sweet boy. I may not accomplish all that I’d like, but every day is so much fun with this little dude. I don’t ever want to forget this time.
