    Work it out

    Written by: P&N January 05 2011

Expectant moms may not be resolving to lose weight this year (not yet, anyway!), but they can still commit to staying in shape. Follow these fit tips from the experts behind pre- and postnatal website tbwap.com (that’s tight bod with a pod) to ensure you kick off 2011 with healthy habits.

    1.Exercise regularly.
Staying active during pregnancy will help prevent prenatal aches and pains and will also help you sleep better. Tone up with light weights and high repetitions to prepare your body for a demanding new baby.

    2.Eat healthily.
Consume small, balanced meals that are rich in folate throughout the day, and increase your
daily caloric intake by around 300 calories.

    3.Hydrate often.
Drinking water is important during pregnancy, especially if you’re working out.Listen to your body and drink a minimum of eight glasses per day.

    4.Embrace your curves.
Get comfortable gym clothes that show off your bump. Wearing an oversized T-shirt will only make you feel, well, oversized.

    5.Take time out for yourself.
When you feel stressed, take five and breathe in deeply. Stretching is the perfect way to unwind.

Visit tbwap.com for stay-fit pointers, trimester-by-trimester workout regimens and more.
