    Written by: P&N October 20 2011

If you caught our “Face forward” feature in the Beauty section of P&N's October issue, you saw our great skin-specific choices for cleaning, toning and brightening your face. But do you know what your skin type is? Take our handy quiz to find out!

    1. What is your skin like when you first wake up?

    a. Normal—very little change from the night before
    b. Tight and flaky
    c. Oily all over
    d. Red and blotchy
    e. Acombination of healing pimples and new ones budding under the surface

    2. What products do you find yourself reaching for most often throughout the day?

    a. It depends on the season—usually moisturizer in the winter and oil blotters in the summer.
    b. Moisturizer—my skin starts to flake if Idon't reapply often.
    c. Powder—I’m always dabbing it on to keep from shining
    d. Anything natural that won't make my redness flare
    e. Concealer—hiding imperfections is my number one goal

    3. How visible are your pores?

    a. I can only see them in certain spots, like around my nose and on my forehead.
    b. I can’t see them at all.
    c. They’re visible on my entire face.
    d. Normal-sized—not too big or very small
    e. Very, since many of them are blackened

    4. Your hair performance and skin type are closely related. What do you feel is the best regimen for your hair?

    a. Shampooing every other day or so, unless I've worked out, in which case Iwash more frequently.
    b. Iwash every few days, no problem.
    c. Ilather up every day—sometimes twice a day to combat the greasiness.
    d. Washing as often as Ineed, but sparsely so as not to irritate my scalp
    e. Iwash frequently so my hair doesn't get oily and contribute to breakouts.

    5. I would describe the condition of my skin as ________.

    a. Pretty good—sometimes a little oily around the t-zone and sometimes a little dry in the cheek area
    b. Uncomfortable—dull, itchy, flaky
    c. Shiny and slick but clear
    d. Bumpy and acne-prone
    e. Challenging—I have bad reactions to products often, and get red and blotchy with certain foods and beverages that I consume, etc.
