    Aunt Bucky Bedding

Did you happen to catch this article a couple weeks ago?

If so, you know the American Academy of Pediatrics has officially recommended against the use of crib bumpers. Crib bumpers have proven to do more harm than good studies show and can pose an increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Safety is obviously of utmost importance when it comes to our babes, so although they looked pretty, crib bumpers are no longer a nursery staple.

But how's a design-dedicated mom supposed to keep baby's room looking complete? Enter: Sheets that make a statement. I'm a pretty big fan of bargains, so if you're set on picking up an under-$10 option at your local Target, I'm not going to stop you. However, if you're looking for something a little more special—and if you're already under-budget from not having to buy that $400+ multi-piece bedding set that featured multiple items you can't use in the crib now anyway (i.e., bumper, crib quilt, etc.)—consider making a mini-splurge on these above-average sheets from P&N favorite Aunt Bucky. (In our August 2009 issue, we said this about our favorite relative: “There's one in every family: a slightly cuckoo, ever-so-eccentric auntie who pinches cheeks and gives the most unexpected gifts. In the nicest of ways, Aunt Bucky is the essence of the stereotype.”) From stripes to stars to peace signs to tools, she's got a little bit of everything. And don't even get me started on the patchwork collection. To die for.

Priced at $40 to $70, the sheets aren't cheap. But the quality isn't either, and you can see for yourself that they most certainly don't scrimp on style. If it's the only bedding you have to buy (nothing else is allowed in the crib after all!), they just might just be worth the extra dollars.
