    DIY mobiles

I have been dreaming up ideas for cool mobiles from the time I found out I was expecting again and have been scouring blog after blog for inspiration.

Here are a couple of my favorite finds ready for a crafty mama to spend the afternoon or weekend creating.

I’m crazy about this funky airplane mobile crafted by Lauren Clark. She created it from simple items – vintage comics and a bike wheel. This would also be fun in an older child’s room or playroom.

There are a lot of bird mobiles out there, but that’s only because they’re so stinkin’ adorable! I really love this one featured on playing house. The artist made it extra special by embroidering each little bird by hand. So sweet!

Looking for something a little more modern? Then check out this butterfly mobile created by Courtney and featured on spearmint baby. She used a simple butterfly template that she found online to create the cardstock butterflies and then attached them to metal craft rings with fishing line. Not feeling crafty? Then you can purchase one in her online etsy shop.

This simple leaf mobile is a great way to bring the outdoors in. I found detailed instructions from Derek and Lauren, here on design sponge online. This would also be a wonderful project to complete with a toddler or preschooler – So simple and lovely.

Sew she Sews created this bright, colorful polka dot mobile and I just love it! It is created with simple readily available materials and can be created in a color scheme to match any space.

Ann Wood creates these amazing boat mobiles and was recently kind enough to share detailed instructions on her blog. This is quite a project, but the results are breathtaking. If you aren’t ready to take on a task quite this large then order one from her online store, Ann Wood Handmade.
