This month at P&N, we’re in the mood to revamp baby’s space. To kick-off our month on nursery design, we’ve asked Sissy + Marley, a NYC-based boutique baby planner and concierge service created by sisters Chelsea Reale and Rachel Geisler and their mom Diana Rice, to share their advice on the newest trends in nursery nesting and most importantly, how to take your nursery from ho-hum to fabulous.

More than ever, our clients are asking us to create nurseries with room to grow, using pieces that will outlast the baby years and work well into childhood so decorating dollars go the distance. Whether your decorating budget is small or large, commit to pieces that are timeless, fun and will grow with your child.
Wallpaper adds interest, texture and an overall polished look to a nursery. Move beyond painted pink or blue walls and choose from the beautiful wallpapers now available and guaranteed to suit any nursery style. Though your initial upfront investment will be more than paint, the look you create will be well worth it in the long run.
Artwork for children’s spaces has come a long way. Move beyond the traditional primary colored ABC artwork and think abstract art, photography, handmade wall art and, our favorite, maps. Wall art creates visual interest and depth in a room. Whether its vintage photos, your own personal photos, found objects or reprinted works from the great artists, it is never too early to introduce your little one to the wonderful world of art.
Detailed ceilings are top on our list when decorating nurseries because babies spend so much time staring up. Use this often overlooked space to create a stimulating environment. Painted stripes, wallpaper, stencils, and hanging lighting will give little ones lots to look at and create a beautiful finish in the room.
