While it can be fun to spoil a baby, it's never fun to spoil baby's milk.
If you've got a baby to feed and an iPhone in hand, then we may have just found a way to ensure that your little one never gets expired leftovers. Consume Within is a newly released app for iPhone that keeps track of all the food items you have in your refrigerator, freezer or pantry (including pureed baby foods and breastmilk) and notifies you when any item will soon expire.
To use the app, you place a sticker on the food you want to track and scan it into the system. Once it's catalogued, you can scan the item at any time to see how long you have until it will go bad. It even tells you the location of the item, in case you have a hard time remembering where you put those rogue tomatoes.
Sounds like a pretty great solution for making sure baby gets bacteria-free milk and grunge-free grub. It helps you use your provisions wisely, saves money (no more wasted food!) and saves you from having to peer into that closed-up Tupperware that's been in the back right corner of the fridge for the last 3 weeks. And for a newly minted mama, not having to remember another daily detail is always a plus!
Tell us in the comments—have you used Consume Within? Do you think you would?
(Psst … if you're not an iPhone user, here's a very similar app for the Droid.)
